Hockey
in Weston School sports is growing rapidly.
Middle School: A co-ed club team plays home games at the Rivers
Rink. Players must be in the 7th or 8th grade at the Middle School.
The team has few practices because almost all of the players skate
three or four times a week for nearby Youth Hockey teams during
the season. For more information, email Sue Tamoney, dsactamoney@comcast.net.
High School: After a long absence, hockey is returning
to Weston High. During 2004-05, the team, consisting mainly of sophomores
with a few freshmen and juniors, will play as a JV team against
JV and Varsity competition provided by public and private schools
in eastern Massachusets. This group of players will become a Varsity
level team in 2005-06 and will play in the Dual County League. Assuming
enough demand, the 2005-06 season will also include a JV team.
High School Girls: Currently several talented female
players are members of the Weston JV roster. However, plans are
being made to start a Weston-Wayland High School Girls club team
this season. If successful, the club team should in just a few years
become a full-fledged Varsity girls sport either jointly with Wayland
as a co-operative team, or separately.
